HOT SPRINGS
Lesbos boasts numerous hot springs, owing to its unique geological history. It is no coincidence that the first settlements on the island were established where hot waters gush from the Earth.
Some of the hot springs on Lesbos are:
Gera Hot Springs
Radioactivity: 1,8. Water temperature: 38° C
There are two pools, one for men and one for women, as well as a massage room. A café and tavern behind the baths
 offer wonderful views over the bay. For those wishing to enjoy a cool swim in the sea before trying the hot springs, the beach is right next to the baths. The hot springs of Gera are ideal for rheumatism, kidney stones, bronchitis, gynaecological disorders and other health problems.
Entrance fee: 2,5 euro per person
Polichnitos Hot Springs
Radioactivity: 1,6-6. These are the hottest springs in Europe, with the temperature at source between 67°C and 92°C. The water temperature in the pools is around 44°C. There are two pools and two relaxation spaces. The hot springs of Polichnitos are ideal for chronic rheumatism, chronic menstruation disorders, uric arthritis, bone tuberculosis and other health problems.
Entrance fee: 3 euro per person.
Lesbos is endowed with more hot springs in Eftalou, Lisvori and Thermi.
The Hamam (Turkish bath) at Mesagros
The Hamam at Mesagros is the only Ottoman bath still in use on Lesbos, and one of three still in use in Greece. It used to be the private bath of the Soulakis family. It was constructed in 1898 and restored in 2009. The services provided are the authentic services one can receive at an Istanbul bath.
- Peeling, with the use of a special glove (kese)
- Foam massage (soap bag)
- Essencial oil massage.
The Turkish bath at Mesagros is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00. Previous appointment is required.
